Narration
In multiple instances, teams have gone undefeated and never had the chance to be the national champion. To fix this, college football added the BCS national championship in 1998 (NCAA.com). This game was a matchup between the first and second-ranked teams in college football. However, good teams that arguably should have been in the national championship still went undefeated without a chance to be the champion. College football then added a four-team playoff to remedy this issue. However, even though this format was introduced in 2014, there have still been multiple instances of undefeated teams not qualifying. Therefore, the playoff should be expanded once again.
Another issue is selection process. In most years of its existence, the CFP has selected at least 1 team that had a one-loss season and left out many more. This means that the decision was left up to opinion. In a truly fair system, every team that only had one bad game should have a chance. In many instances, teams that many people believed were good enough to beat the top teams never had a chance. With an expanded format, the top Group-of-Five team(s) along with more good Power-5 teams would create more interesting and fair matchups as well as giving more players the opportunity to play.
